Future EO Missions Workshop

The next CEOI Challenge Workshop to identify potential future UK EO missions was held on Monday 30th April in the Alexandra House Hotel near Swindon.  The workshop was originally due to be held in March 2018, but due to the severe weather, was replaced by a telephone conference. The agenda was modified to fit the schedule for the overall 'EO Mission Capability Review' process.

There was an opportunity to hear about the missions proposed into the UK Space Agency’s EO Mission Capability Review The agenda included introductory talks from CEOI and the UK Space Agency to set the scene, followed by parallel workshop sessions with presentations of the new mission ideas by the proposers.

The workshop completed with a plenary session after lunch to bring out the main points.

CEOI organised this workshop as part of a project on behalf of the UK Space Agency’s Earth Observation Advisory Committee (EOAC) to develop a list of candidate UK EO Missions and Instruments.

A major part of the workshop was to hear from those who would like their mission to be included on this list.  These could be UK national missions/instruments, or developed as a bilateral or through ESA (including InCubed) and that are near flight-ready.

The information from the presentations, the discussion and the process will be collated into a short report for UKSA and EOAC.  The following stages in the project were announced at the workshop.
