Dr Josh Vande Hey video launched at UK Space Conference

Dr Josh Vande Hey, Science Co-Director at the Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation (CEOI), features in short film unveiled at the UK Space Conference 2025 highlighting the world-leading research and space missions emerging from Space Park Leicester and the University of Leicester.

As Head of Earth Observation Science at Space Park Leicester and leader of the Earth Observation Science Research Group at the University of Leicester’s School of Physics and Astronomy, Dr Vande Hey plays a central role in the UK’s Earth Observation (EO) ecosystem. His work is helping drive forward national and global efforts to better understand and respond to the planet’s greatest challenges through satellite technology and cutting-edge analytics.

Dr Vande Hey said: “In just three years, Space Park Leicester has become a beacon of innovation in Earth Observation, bringing together academia, industry, and government to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.

“Our work is not just about exploring space — it’s about using space to better understand and protect our planet.”

The National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), headquartered at Space Park Leicester, has produced 554 publications since 1996, earning more than 19,500 citations and reinforcing the significant global impact of its scientific work.
