The Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation (CEOI) has re-opened applications for its prestigious Collaboration and Creative Ideas Lab, with a call for those involved in Earth observation (EO) applications to consider entering.
A number of places have already been awarded to an exciting field of candidates, but a limited number of spaces are still available, particularly for those who work in EO applications.
Launching next month, the Collaboration and Creative Ideas Lab is hands-on programme that will give early career researchers and professionals working in EO the chance to explore new ideas, collaborate and develop proposals for EO instrument concepts that address pressing scientific, societal, and commercial challenges.
Led by expert facilitators and supported by mentors with decades of experience in EO innovation, the Lab will begin with a virtual briefing session at the end of September which will be followed by a series of online workshops in October.
Applications must be submitted by noon on Monday, 8 September 2025. Click here to apply.
Dr Nicolas Lévêque, Director of the CEOI, said: “We were delighted with the response to our Collaboration and Creative Ideas Lab and can’t wait to start the programme next month.
“The Lab will give attendees a space where they can collaborate and develop ideas that could shape the next wave of UK-led space technology and applications.
“This programme is part of our wide-ranging efforts to develop and strengthen UK expertise and capabilities in EO instrumentation so we can help to position the UK to win leading roles in future international programmes.”
The CEOI is funded by the UK Space Agency with parallel technology investment from industry and its key aim is to develop UK innovative technologies to observe Earth from space through the teaming of scientists and industrialists.
It welcomes the involvement of all UK academic and industrial partners who can contribute to the development of UK EO capability.
