CEOI showcases its support for early careers researchers

Experts from the Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation (CEOI) shared how they support early careers researchers at a special networking event focussed on funding opportunities for the Space Sector.

CEOI representatives attended the latest Cosmic Coffee event for businesses at Space Park Leicester earlier this month.

The monthly community event is run by the University of Leicester’s £100m space research and innovation centre to provide a platform for those working in and around the space community in the Midlands so they can come together to share ideas and receive updates.

CEOI Co-Director of Science Josh Vande Hey (pictured) attended the event alongside his colleague Paul Corazzo.

Dr Vande Hey said: “We were very pleased to attend Cosmic Coffee at Space Park Leicester for a special session on funding opportunities for the Space Sector.

“It was a great opportunity for businesses to hear about the support that is available from Innovate UK – the UK’s innovation agency – and to find out more about EU funding streams.

“It was great to see a strong representation from early career researchers and technologists engaging with representatives of industry and funding organisations, and to promote our upcoming CEOI creative ideas lab that aims to help early career professionals in Earth Observation develop their skills in building technical and business cases for new Earth Observation technologies.

“We also explained how the support we have available is designed to develop and strengthen UK expertise and capabilities in Earth Observation instrumentation.

“We’re grateful to Space Park Leicester Head of Commercial and Innovation Vinay Patel and the wider team for organising this great event.”
