On behalf of the CEOI Leadership Team, I am writing to share some important news regarding our future.
After 19 years of supporting the UK’s Earth Observation (EO) landscape, the current funding for the CEOI will conclude at the end of this financial year. As a result, our role as a technology funding body will cease on Tuesday, 31st March 2026.
What happens next?
While our primary focus has been technology funding, the CEOI has always been about more than just grant funding. Over the last two decades, this community has become a vital hub for networking, skills development, and collaboration.
The CEOI Leadership Team (Kevin Smith, Josh Vande Hey, Katy Angliss, and myself) would like to preserve the connections and expertise this community has fostered. We are currently reviewing options to continue our community-building activities – such as workshops and events – beyond March, and are working to define what this next phase might look like. We will share further updates in the coming weeks.
With our warmest regards,
Nicolas Lévêque
Director of the Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation
